Me too. I don't really want him but I don't want anyone else in the NFC East getting him either.

re: Peppers signs with the Bears (updated - again)
Which side of the line did Pashos play on in SF? I wouldnt mind starting the season with Clifton at LT and Pashos at RT. We'd definitely need to draft a tackle by round two, though.
It was interesting to read that Shanahan is very high on Rinehart. so, concievably, we're looking at a starting line of: LT - Clifton LG - Dockery C - Rabach RG - Rinehart RT - Pashos Not the best OL in the world, but certainly better than any line involving Mike Williams, Levi Jones, and Stephon Heyer.

Peppers looks to be headed to Chicago.
Im almost kinda glad its looking like we wont take him. Something just seemed risky and Jason Taylorish.

re: Peppers signs with the Bears (updated - again)
honestly, i dont think Peppers will be a major factor wherever he goes. Perhaps playing for a real contender would motivate Peppers, but from all reports, the guys just never had a passion for the game. If Peppers went to Philly and became a bum, that would only help us - especially if the cap comes back next year and the eagles couldnt cut him.

I'm pretty sure that Shanahallen won't stop with just those two tackles. We'll add more.

re: Peppers signs with the Bears (updated - again)
Despite his perceived lack of passion for the game, we're still talking about a guy that's almost a lock for 10+ sacks per year and has been one of the most productive players at his position since he came in to the league.
I'm not crying that we're not getting him, I think we've got a lot of needs where we need to spend money on... but I think a lot of people are underestimating the kind of player he is. |

Nor do we want anyone with an Oprah commitment to fitness...sign him at 285, shows up next month at 342.

re: Peppers signs with the Bears (updated - again)
I'm guilty of it as well, i just think he constitutes too high of a risk, not only of not performing himself, but the demoralizing effect it would have on the team - to bring in a free agent, pay him haynesworth money, and then watch him act like he doesn't care about football. he could get away with that to a certain degree in carolina because he was a home-grown draft pick, a "true" panther - but i think the team moral problems would be amplified significantly if peppers comes in as a free agent, makes a ton of money, and then doesnt put forth the effort to show he's worth it.
