Smoot news
On ESPN News Pastabelly said that Smoot isn't getting as much action as he thought he would and he also called him a great young CB. He also said he would not be surprised if he ended up back with the Redskins!!!!!!

Re: Smoot news
thats good news for the skins. sometimes they aren't right. everyone thought that pierce would just resign with the skins no questions asked, then suprise, he's a giant. i wouldn't be suprised for smoot to just pick another team just like that.

Re: Smoot news
That is really good news. It would be a coup if we could get Smoot back for a less inflated price than we thought. I am really hoping at this point that he does come back, because with Coles and Pierce gone already, it would be real tough to swallow Smoot's departure as well.

Re: Smoot news
I HIGHLY doubt Smooty will return to D.C. Although no one has yet offered Smoot in excess of $10 million (as a SB), someone surely will. You can take that to the bank.
I'm not sure why we can't up our offer by $2 million...it would only lead to an extra cap hit each season of about 300K. That's nothing. |

Re: Smoot news
think about it though, who needs a CB that bad, that they are willing to pay Smoot big $$ for rather than go to a FA already on the market or the draft. He's a good CB, maybe even a great CB, but the market for CBs was last season, not this season. I wouldn't be suprised at all if he's a Redskins this season either.

kingerock, I will pick you up and bring you back as soon as I get stationed there. It may take a few years, but I will not leave a fallen comrade.

Re: Smoot news
Smoot is a true Reskin, in every meaning of the word. Period. I have the feeling that he's holding out for more money, but from the Redskins only. If you listen to all the free agency chatter how often have you heard Smoot's name. Not much, because I don't think he has told his agent to really go out looking, because otherwise I couldn't see why another team would not want to pick up Smoot. He is as talented a cornerback as any other on the market and he is the epitomy of heart. I think he wants more money, but in the end he's going to sign with the Skins because e loves the team, the fans, and the city more than a couple more million dollars he could find in his signing bonus. Peace out

Re: Smoot news
Even though I disagree with the general sentiment that Smoot's just holding out for more money from the 'Skins I hope y'all are right.

Re: Smoot news
nah. once smoot sees that he really wants to be a core redskin, he'll just resign with us. actually, since our cap is almost at the limit i don't see the redskins resigning smoot or anyone.

Re: Smoot news
We can still afford to resign smoot under our terms. The key word being "our".

I think he will play with the same intensity anywhere he goes and he must love us just asking us to wait 3 months and when we don't give in he doesn't back off and if we give in i will be upset, most players on teams take money off if they truelly love the team. They don't do what smoot does. And now i don't want to pay him even the 10 but if he takes it then fine but not any more |
