They just got far enough into the process that they realized other teams knew Carriker didn't fit into the Rams system and thus realized the Rams had no bargaining power. We may end up in the same boat with Carter, although I think a guy not coming off an injury and having 11 sacks should be worth much more.

Actually he technically is:
Redskins OLB/DE Andre Carter (biceps surgery) is already in
Remember he tore it late during the season.

We should trade Carriker and our #1 to the Rams to move up.

Have you sent in your resume yet Tripp?

My research suggest that this post is a massive buzz kill

It would appear that we dropped to 32nd in the 5th round and moved up to first in the 7th round. I guess you could say that our original 5th round pick was like a late 4th rounder but for a first round pick I won't mind taking such a "hit."

Those crazy employers at today's career fair wanted to know where my resume was. I asked them: haven't they heard of me?! I'm kind of a big deal.

When we drafted Laron Landry, I wanted Carricker. I guess looking at this trade, we did the right thing taking Landry. It looks like they gave us Carriker, for a pack of Snickers. I am still happy we got him. I think he would fit perfectly in a 3-4 at DE.

Proof that we now have professionals running this team. Great pick. If I recall correctly, alot of mock drafts had us taking Carriker in 2007 at 6th overall (him or Okoye). We got Landry (who I'm still high on) and get Carriker 3 years later for moving down 28 slots in the 5th round.....great job.

Its not like years past when we traded 3rd and 4th round picks for TJ Ducket and Brandon Lloyd. Its not like 2008 when we traded a 2nd and 6th for Jason Taylor. We're not just pissing away our picks. Would I like to acquire more picks - hell yes. But if we dont, i'm satisfied that we traded our picks for players who will fit our system and who project to be starters in 2010, 2011, and 2012, at the least.

The only think i'm upset about is using a 3rd rounder on Jarmon. If we had kept the 4-3, it would have been a great move. however, in retrospect, its a completely wasted pick. Jarmon really doesnt fit anywhere in a 3-4 scheme... I can't beleive we're moving him to OLB.
And you base this on what, exactly?

If I'm correct, he was regarded more as a 4-3 DE than a 3-4 OLB, but he has the size and speed and now Lou Spanos as a position coach.
Jeremy Jarmon: 6-3, 277 lbs, 4.71
DeMarcus Ware: 6-4, 262lbs, 4.6

It's also only been one season. I think Jarmon was a good pick-up last year. Plus, if he was in the draft this year I think he would easily go in the 2nd rd.
