Re: Smoot news

That was my stance from day 1, once Smoot went out into the market place and found out no one is going to break the bank for him he will come back and take our very generous offer, he just better be careful he doesn't over play his hand.

In Gibbs press conferance Friday he said, not in so many words that Shawn Springs was the better corner and we only gave him a 10 mil. signing bonus so that is why they are not willing to budge on Smoot. I am in agreement with that because I feel his play is adverage at best. I love his heart and effort but the ability leaves alot to be desired IMO.If he signs for the offer on the table then fine I will have to bite the bullet if not I hope we go after Antrell Rolle in Aprils draft.

Re: Smoot news

Isn't 10 million enough? I make like 40g's a year, shit. And I spend $800 for season ticks plus parking, food, jerseys, beer, etc. Smoot, sign that shit and become a legend. You sign I'll buy a new jersey #21 and wear it to every home game. If not I think you (Smoot) is a bitch like Pierce and Coles. Can't blame people for chasing money like Pierce, but I can blame him for fronting to wanna be a Redskin. As Buges says "people may say they'll be a skin for life, but when you dangle a dollar or 2 in front of them it all changes"
Gibbs will show in 2k5.
Bottomline!

I agree with Ramsey, there is no way SMoot is coming back without the Skins increasing that signing bonus. Smoot could get a 10 mil bonus today from KC or the Jets to name a couple if he was willing to settle for that.

The Redskins say they will not increase, but they did match a 6.5 bonus on Pierce when they had offered 3.5 reportedly. The problem with the Redskins waiting until another offer comes in though is that any team that signs him is going to frontload the first couple years to make it so that the Skins can't match the terms. The only way they will get smoot is to increase their bonus offer now so that they can set the terms of the contract themselves. Once another team is involved they are not going to make Smoot an offer that could fit in the Skins cap knowing that he wants to be in DC...

This is funny but PFW calls Smoot brash, streaky, and a victim of big plays. He's small and gives up more than 50 lbs to some of the NFL's more elite receivers.......then they add his rating: above average............

And for Smoots asking price appears too high too......sounds like Smoot will remain a Skin.......

I agree, think of it this way. Springs had an awsome season for us last season, but he is known around the league as to be injury proned, is Williams ready to rely on Wilds and Harris as our starting CB's while Springs is healing? I think that Wilds and Harris will do good in Williams D, but I am not sure how they will do with out Springs on the other side.
