Re: Rolle to Ravens
Bosshog - the Coles trade handcuffed us, if you consider that bad FA spending - then right you are.
and he said 11M was signing bonus, 12 M was salary. |

I say that because I don't necessarily think that we'll take a wide receiver in the first round now. Unless they're planning to dump James Thrash, or let Taylor Jacobs keep the bench warm again this season, a fifth wideout who also happens to be a rookie simply won't get a whole lot of playing time. Patten and Moss are instant starters in my mind. They're the replacements for Coles and Gardner. In Joe Gibbs offense, with a heavy emphasis on the running game, there's no reason to spend such a high pick on a guy who just won't see much of the field this season. I think we now have other pressing needs. |

Re: Rolle to Ravens
I wouldn't be suprised to see us run more 3-4 WR sets this year if Gibbs actually does open it up. I think Jacobs deserves the 3rd spot, rookie 4th, and keep Thrash our special teams ace with occassional receiver work!

Re: Rolle to Ravens
holy shit!?!?!??!?!?!?!? So let me get this straight, Rolle was rated as the top corner in free agency and he got 11 million. We offered Smoot 10. That means that Snyder actually made a competitive offer. People always give Snyder shit, either he overpays or he tries and screws the player. It looks like Smoot was offered exactly what hes worth, and Snyder took a stand and said we want you, and we watn to give you what you are worth. He isnt over paying, he isnt underpaying. Hes offering our own grown player market value. Im very happy to hear that Rolle only got 11

I don't have much of an argument for your example there, and I'd love to see us throw it around a little more. It's just that rookie WRs -- unless they're the next Randy Moss -- tend to take 2 or 3 seasons to get into a groove. With new needs at linebacker and possibly cornerback, plus the annual "we need a pass-rushing stud at DE" that never gets addressed; that just put wideout on the backburner if you ask me. |

Re: Rolle to Ravens
Just wanted to remind everyone that Pastabelly had it on reliable sources that Rolle was going to the skins for some crazy signing bonus, proving once again how bad Danny snyder is, etc. etc.
F*** you, Pasta, you fat POS. Wrong again.

Re: Rolle to Ravens
Beemn - I know this. He didn't spread the defense with many WRs near enough last year, in my opinion. Especially on the goal line. Make them respect four WRs. Thats why I said put the rookie at #4. There's nothing that can make up for real game experience. They'd have enough, if we have one of the two top WRs Williams/Edwards then I really feel they can make an impact the first year. I don't think we need a DE, I think our DEs, while not stars, are very solid.

One thing that would open up our passing attack -- which is what everybody wants -- is for the running game to become a 5 yard per carry threat. Last year it was about three. And that's not scaring anyone. |

Re: Rolle to Ravens
Beemn - because of our passing game. It was obvious where the ball was going and who was getting it. Doesn't matter who you have back there it's hard to run with 8 in the box.

Re: Rolle to Ravens
I like the way the Skins are holding strong with Smoot, and holding to their financial constraints as well.
We like to complain when they spend $$ left and right, and now that they're actually showing some restraint we're still giving them shit. It's starting to look like $10M is a very fair offer for Smoot. |

Really do not believe that Rolle was ever coming to the Redskins! Just reading what Gibbs has said about who they were looking at first and where! I think he never was in the plan! I think the Smoot and Redskins can get this done if both sides will come together! It would make the up coming draft a way to look for the best players on the board then filling the need! |

Re: Rolle to Ravens
I'm also liking that the market for a CB is getting smaller and smaller with teams filling their needs with others and not Smoot.
