When Moore comes back our issues aren't going to be magically solved.

Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread

here is my day.

Cooley catches the TD 27-10 life is grand

Texans slowly come back

Wife starts to leave with son to go to grocery store raccoon bites her it was hiding under the car.

At the same A. Johnson catches TD on 4th down

Get in car rush to ER

Acura's AC breaks on the way there (see f Toyota for the rest of this awesome week)

Get to ER finally make it to the waiting room after paperwork to see Houston win the game.

My wife is still waiting and i brought my son home.

Never have been at such a high and have it all come down so quick.

Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread

lets not forget guys, we have struggled with st louis in recent years when they have been horrible. haslett beat us when he was rams interim coach not long ago, we lost late on a betts fumble another time, and we only beat them 9-7 under zorn. plus we lost to the lions to break their winless streak. what have we shown over the years consistently? we play to the level of our opponents most of the time, up or down. we must win the rams game and we must take it extremely seriously.

Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread

Just got back to the hotel from the game.... what a freaking disaster. I have nothing to add that probably has not been said, but I knew it almost as soon as we went up 27-10.... I just knew it'd come crashing down... and of course it did. This is the stuff that I was expecting to be fixed from Shannahan. That blocked field goal is atrocious. I dont know who's fault it is, but that is the 2nd missed field goal on something like that in as many weeks. Someone needs to lose their job for it. Thats crap.

Either way, I'd rather have lost by 40 than done that...

im with you. i knew at 27-10 we were still in a ton of danger, and if we have been consistent at anything over the years its been at giving up leads and always making a close game. and fred davis missed his chip on the fg block.

Thumbs down Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread

That was one of the most demoralizing losses in a long time. A game we should have won and would have won if not for that blocked field goal. Then to kick the winning field goal in overtime to see it nullified because of a timely time-out by Houston. With the Redskins, the game is never over until the clock runs out. You can never ever relax and assume you've won. I'm very impressed with McNabb and equally as unimpressed with our running game. Eighteen total yards on the ground? Wow! That's gotta change. So another Monday will roll around and I won't look forward to reading the morning Post.

Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread

For those of you who had a weird tragic accident occur and it forced you to miss a good part of the game........ I feel bad for you.

For those of us who watched the game from start to finish with all the highs and lows, I calmed down after about an hour and am now starting to feel weirdly happy about the fact our team played well, or so it seemed to me. In the past we would have ran, ran, ran and kept trying even though it was not working. Today was different, we seemed to pass well (McNabb with over 400+ yrds passing), the run game was not too bad, we scored over 20 points, the defense did well, we got another turnover, and the pass rush seemed to be working well.... how many sacks did we get?

I know it's a loss but I couldn't help but reflect and be happy and excited about this team. Maybe now NFCE, media, and whoever the hell else will take note we are a different team. No longer are we the NFCE whipping boy.

I had to keep reminding myself this was one of the games I had listed as a loss when I said we might go 9-7 or 10-6. I actually expected a blow out by the Texans and for it not to have happened against another team that was a play off team last yr and is supposed to be strong and make another run at the play offs makes a statement.

I honestly didn't realize we only had 18 total yrds on the ground (Are you sure?) I thought after half time they showed a stat and the Texans were like 60 something yrds and the Skins only had 5 yrds. then they kept showing Portis's stats and he was up to like 29 yrds after 2 runs.

Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread

I mostly agree SBXVII, with the exception of our run game. 18 yards is unacceptable all the way around. That said, I expected the Texans to really blow us out, and that we had a 27-10 lead at any point is really amazing. Further, after last week, everyone (myself included) was wondering where any semblance of an offense was (heck I even benched McNabb in fantasy arrrgghhhh). So 400 yards, 27 points, and no turnovers(right?), that is all an excellent harbinger for this season. Our D needs to tighten up, but the Houston offense is not some weak opponent.

Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread

Portis had 30 something but when you subtract the negative 10 by LJ that takes the team rushing number down quite a bit right there.

Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread

Hey kudos to our forum guys. Obviously this loss sucked, but no one was dumb enough to make an attention getting thread full of incoherent ramblings (which is kind of surprising considering how many new members have come in). ES, God bless them, obviously they have quality guys over there, but the sheer volume of that community makes those embarrassing threads all to common.

Speaking of incoherent ramblings when are we going to get another "Smoot lays the Smackdown" thread?

Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread

I've often said that when a defense has a good DL then you need to find another way to get your star players the ball. We played two teams with awsome run defenses, but perhaps maybe getting the RB beyond the DL and passing to them would have been the answer.... although I think we tried that and Portis was either over thrown or didn't catch the ball.

I also don't recall seeing any cut blocking. It's almost like they don't want the team to use it until they need it or the team gets better at it or something. Unless I miss something.

Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread

THAT'S why we have a drunk thread!
AND as.....painfull as this was, it's our coaches and our guys first year in ALL new systems. ALl of our systems arenot in place and all the correct personnel does not exist here as of yet. Another offseason, and draft...maybe, maybe more.
THAT having been said, globally your Offense cannot quit scoring, and your Defense MUST be able to make a stop when the game is on the line...........
It was a professional showing
Sleep well............or not.
