I really think that if you took the names off of the jerseys, you go with T Jack in this case. yeah, he's no star but Favre is not the Favre of last year.

Never been a Favre guy and every year his retirement talk annoys the hell out of me. However, I've found myself (of similar age..not quite that old) rooting for the old guy. He's looking real old about right now too. If his streak ends this week, like him or hate him, you gotta give it up for this guy and the streak. It's really remarkable to think about how long he's played, every week and never missed a start.

How in the hell are we even discussing someone with two fractures in their ankle playing in an NFL game? Is an injured and very mediocre Brett Favre that much better than T. Jackson?

Edit: misspelling...oops.

Peter King has a quote from an orthopedic surgeon that said (paraphrasing) that what favre has is technically a stress fracture but is closer to a severely sprained ankle. The second "fracture" is a bone chip on his heel. Surgeon went on to say he can get pain killing shots for both and that if it were a playoff game, almost any qb would be a go with the same injuries...

I think people build this up as a way to further the Brett Favre mythos a little more. After all, he's the iron man gunslinger just going to go out, sling it and have fun out there.

Honestly, if anyone in the league would be tough/stupid enough to play with this injury, it would be Favre.

I don't think the coaches decide if he plays or not in Minnesota...I'm thinking it's Brett's way or no way. THEY crawled down to his house desperate, so he has the power up there.

Since he hasn't been ruled out yet, I expect him to start the game, maybe play the first quarter or two to keep the streak alive, then he'll sit. It would not be the first time that exact same situation has happened in his career. I remember that happening in GB. Favre got hurt. Rodgers came in and got hurt. Next week, Favre started the game with a serious injury.

I remember it because I had Favre in fantasy and got burned.

I don't know if I see Favre starting just to keep a streak alive. If he starts, i think he'll try to finish it.

I think they're blowing the severity of his injury out of proportion in order to make all of his wrangler wearing sycophants ooh and aah at his legendary toughness. It's all about marketing.

Without a doubt he's the best of their QB's, the question on the minds of many is, should he be the QB starting for the Vikes at this particular time?

Favre needs to concentrate on getting his body healed, I certainly hope it's not something like the streak that's keeping him alive.

Fractures take a good 4-6 weeks to heal up. Taking a week or two off isn't really going to help him. If he can tough it out I would want him in there.

This continues to end badly for Brett...sexual harrassment and now the streak...to go along with a super poor year stats and record wise. Not good

Bet Randy Moss will wish he was back on the other side of the field this weekend

Hopefully this is the year which makes Favre retired for good...especially if the streak is broken, he has little motivation to return next year.

Re: Brett Favre has 2 ankle fractures; status uncertain for next week

Minnesota Vikings coach Brad Childress leaning toward holding quarterback Brett Favre out, report says - ESPN

I wonder if Favre would fight it if Chilly told him he was going to start Jackson this week. Or if he would simply accept it and move on. It is a huge streak, but I believe it should've been over when Favre had that torn bicep in his throwing arm with the Jets. Everybody could tell he wasn't effective, and it should've been diagnosed from the outset and if it had they would've sat him down that season.

If they do start Favre and then switch to Jackson after one series I will lose what little respect I have left for Favre. Just let it end. Nobody's gonna break it. Everybody already recognizes it for what it is. Be a bigger man and sit down for the team.

They could use Jackson's mobility. Defenses are just teeing up on Favre because they know the players will catch Favre from behind.

He plays, he is toast, simple as that. The Vikings FO must be a bunch of frigging morons, for thinking they could rely on Favre to get them to the SB the way his last few years in GB went. Yeah I know he got the Pack to the NFC title game his last year, but the two seasons before then he was crap. Brett needs to heal up and maybe come back later on. I know their season is going in the tank, but if he gets really nailed he will be placed on IR and lights out in December. Idiots got rid of Sage, for Jackson. Shoot, they were better off retaining Gus. Tavaris sucks.
