No, see, the way I see it -- Karma owes us one. One of our star defensive players has been out because of a hammy, so Karma naturally keeps one of their star offensive players is out because of a hammy.

See? No problem! All is right in the universe!

He takes another hit in the same spot making it bigger and it could be his life, especially if his lung collapses due to the punctured lung.
Upon further review it looks like Romo is going to play Monday night. Which could be construed as a good thing because it means they'll have one less excuse when we beat them

Re: We Want Dallas! 2011 Thread

All I'm saying is the Cowboys would be stupid to take a chance and let him play when they could let him heal and then come back and hopefully play in the later part of the year. He obviously didin't have a lung collapse but this is what I'm talking about....

Quote:
Normally, the pressure in the lungs is greater than the pressure in the pleural space surrounding the lungs. However, if air enters the pleural space, the pressure in the pleura then becomes greater than the pressure in the lungs, causing the lung to collapse partially or completely. Pneumothorax can be either spontaneous or due to trauma.
One good hit could cause his lung to collapse. Two types of pneumothorax's, Spontaneous which is usually from scuba diving, or sky diving, or lung disease. Tension pneumothorax occurs usually from being stabbed or rib fracture. The latter (if the lung collapses) takes about 2 weeks to recover from. But that is usually from someong who had a broken rib puncture the lung and the lung collapses. The rib itself takes longer to heal and god forbid he takes the chance and ends up constantly reinjuring either his rib or lung.

Quote:
Tension pneumothorax may be the immediate result of an injury; the delayed complication of a hidden injury, such as a fractured rib, that punctures the lung
Again he didn't have a pneumothorax but they will not want to chance it with his broken rib having already punctured it once. The doctors will want the lung and rib to heal up a little possibly a week or two. Just my personal guess. They would be stupid to let him play.

This was the HC telling the media that Romo would play. Nothing was mentioned about the punctured lung. I'll be the first to say I'm wrong. and I will come Mon. when he steps on the field, but I'm telling you they would be crazy to let him play knowing he could get seriously hurt if hit in the same spot or tackled hard. Because if it gets worse he will be out longer. They would be smart to let him sit for a week and re-evaluate him, maybe let him sit 2 weeks then pad him up well. Having him ready to play the Skins in the latter part of the season would be best for them instead of chancing playing him now and losing him for the season.

If Romo does manage to play, you know where on his body our defenders will try to hit him. Bring barbeque sauce; Rak likes it on his ribs.

Re: We Want Dallas! 2011 Thread

NFL NETWORK just came out and said it was a collapsed lung. Pneumothorax. Ta daaaa.

It takes up to 2 weeks to heal and were not talking about a QB who has to worry about getting hit again and again. They would be smart to sit him for about 2 weeks then evaluate him. Then maybe think about sitting him another week or 2.

NFL.com

Quote:
"Additional testing on the fractured rib of Tony Romo today revealed that he also has evidence of a pneumothorax -- a condition that is not unusual for an injury such as the one Romo sustained in the game in San Francisco," the team said Monday in a release. "Varying degrees of a pneumothorax can heal in differing time frames. The Cowboys medical team will continue to monitor the situation and conduct additional tests as the week progresses."

Re: We Want Dallas! 2011 Thread

Again from NFL.com

Quote:
If Romo plays with the injury, he would not be the first Cowboys quarterback to do so. In the 1968 Playoffs, Cowboys quarterback Don Meredith played at the Browns in the Eastern Conference Championship Game after spending time in the hospital that week with a punctured lung and pneumonia.

Meredith had 3 interceptions in that game, completing only 3 of 9 passes for 42 yards before Tom Landry pulled him, replacing him with Craig Morton. It was Meredith’s last game.
Not sure if Meredith retirement was because of the injury or old age. but I doubt the Cowboys would want the same to happen to Romo.

Re: We Want Dallas! 2011 Thread

Doesn't make a difference if Romo is in or out. Kitna can get the job done. Even if Jones is hurt, big deal. He isn't a top RB IMHO. Now if Miles Austin is out, that does take away a big play threat. This is the same situation we usually found ourselves with regards to the Gmen. Banged up badly, only to be able to come back and beat us. I think we win, but I wouldn't count our chickens before they hatched. Kitna for Romo isn't that big of a trade off in my opinion, and that is the most likely of the scenarios, meaning Romo is the only one who loses playing time. Our run D is fairly tight, so I think the Dallas running game will be held in check for the most part.

Sorry Gus but Tony is a stud and Kitna isn't even close to his level

Would karma go against us if i hoped for Romo to have fractured rectum to add to his ribs if he plays next week?
