Are you asking if there was Defense player or Oline pick in the 3rd round or beyond in the 2011 that would have produced a Superbowl victory by now?

Redraft the 2011 class, Randal Cobb is picked in the top 10 easily.

Cobb is just an example of cant miss weapon. Is there one this year? I dont know.
I wasnt calling cobb a diamond in the rough. I was making an educated (or uneducated -lol) guess that if the skins go after a wr in the draft it will be in the later rounds, hence diamond in the rough. I was not referring to Cobb in the first part of my post but rather just a wr in general. As far as Cobb i never said he wasnt worthy of a top ten pick, (although i agree with Quake that he probably wouldnt be if it was done again) just that i think they would be better served with an upgrade at the oline or on defense because of their current high powered offense - which was high powered long before cobb got there. Im not sure there is somebody in that draft that fits the bill? Again i was just trying to make the point that there were other areas of need besides wr not so much an opinion about Cobb. Im more of a believer in drafting for need than best player available, unless of course it is a complete and utter no brainer, but than its always "why is that guy still on the board"? So....

Re: 2013 Free Agents

Maybe we should trade for Percy Harvin, sign Mike Wallace, and sign Wes Welker, so the ghost of Vinny Cerrato can be at peace.

There would be no way the Skins could trade for Revis then... you seem to forget that piece.

Re: 2013 Free Agents

I'm not against drafting a WR in the later rounds but that's about as far as I'd go as far as addressing the WR spot this year. Garcon, Morgan, Moss, Hankerson, Robinson, etc. Could do a lot worse than that.

Re: 2013 Free Agents

I think in the end, its gonna be much much more interesting how we handle the Tight End position than the WRs group. Questions abound there...Fred Davis and Pauleson both FA and Niles Paul...does he even have a position at this point? Wouldnt surprise me if we add someone new. Didnt SS make a point of saying we talked to several TE at the senior bowl?

Re: 2013 Free Agents

As to the WR spot, if someone amazing falls to the 2nd round ... fine, but he would have to be head and shoulders above any DB's or RT's we could get at the spot.

I'm with you with the exception of kickin the tires on Jonny Knox, bears just released him. Wouldn't hurt to see if he still has the speed, I've always liked that guy.

The man was lucky to walk let alone play ball, I can't imagine he will ever be the same after the hit he took...

Re: 2013 Free Agents

He would be a great guy if you can give a "league minimum" one year prove it deal. Would be great if he could replace Santana Moss. When the injury happened they said he would make a complete recovery. Looks like they were wrong, but if he is cleared to play and no guarentee's are required then sign him.

The voice of reason chimes in. Do alot of people forget so quickly what the problems on this team were for the majority of the year?

Word on the street is we are going to resign AL Haynesworth as a RB. Want to have a bruiser in the backfield like the Chicago used to have with the "Fridge". Something tells me 'ol Al would be more like a port-a-potty than a fridge.

Well of course you plug holes when you see immediate problems...Safety, Corner, Tackle, but you dont look away from other areas that can be improved...DLine depth, WR depth, RB depth. This is how you end up with Logan Paulesons, Rob Jackson and most important, Alfred Morris. These guys were pivotal in our playoff run. Without these 3 guys, sorry we dont make the playoffs.

Were we talking about RB position last offseason as a problem? Nope

To me, the Vinny, old thinking FO approach was not only big ticket free agents, but a knee jerk decisions and a lack of planning in every area of the football team.

Yes, fix the immediate problems at RT and Safety, but dont lose focus in other areas and just be satisfied with what we got. Dont be surprised at with more young guys at WR, TE and RB. Thats how you improve your team.
