Re: 2013 Free Agents
Woodson got cut today as well as Freeney from the Colts. Both players are getting up in years and how much the team would have to pay them since their age is an issue and factor.
But they still have a couple of years left in them the way that they are still playing well.

For a reasonable price, I would have no problem with Woodson. On the other hand, I just don't see how Freeney fits in. He seems to me to be a straight up 4-3 DE. He was a talented guy in his day, but just not someone who would be much of a help to us.

Re: 2013 Free Agents
That sounds right to me. And my guess is that Woodson has more left in the tank too.

Re: 2013 Free Agents
First off, I don't follow the rest of the league enough to have an idea of how much Woodson has left. Nevertheless, I looked at some 2012 Woodson highlights (for what it's worth) and in those highlights he was making plays all over the place, as usual. I'm thinking he may have 1-2 years left in the tank.
Remember when the Redskins were looking at using DeAngelo Hall closer to the LOS in a "Charles Woodson like role"? What about getting Charles Woodson himself for that role? He's certainly a perfect fit for some of the things the Skins want to do in the secondary. If he were to struggle some on the outside, I suspect that he could still dominate TE's and slot receivers. I don't know but I have the feeling that Woodson could do a lot for us. He has been a great player and a big time playmaker in this league. The key to getting him would probably be to convince him that we can win it all in a year or two.

Re: 2013 Free Agents
Wes Welker would be excellent. He gets open. He could move the chains and then defense in the draft. A winning combination.

I think Welker goes back to NE. I don't see how they let him walk.

What they don't do is overpay for a guy who's on the wrong side of 30 or perhaps a bit past their prime. I'll actually be more surprised if he doesn't go somewhere else. |

Re: 2013 Free Agents
I want Chris Rainey. He is a speedback that would be good in certain packages for us. He is a low risk high reward, sign him to a one year deal.
