A Call for Unity
As some, or many, of you warpathers know, I am an ardent Ramsey fan. I love Ramsey not simply because he is Patrick Ramsey or because he is perfect (he is far from it), but because I think he is our beloved team’s best chance to provide a spark on offense that we all so badly want. I strongly disagree with the decision to bench Ramsey in favor of Brunell and I will not change my mind about the quarterback change until I see that Brunell can deliver us several more wins and hopefully, a winning season.
However, given this past week’s events and the overall anxiety exhibited by many warpathers (myself included), I think it is time to call for fan unity. We do not all have to agree with the decision to bench Ramsey. We do not all have to agree that Gibbs is infallible. We do not all have to agree that we should have run this play or that play during one series or another. But, I think that we can all agree that we love the Redskins. And, as Redskins fans, we ultimately all want the same thing….Redskins victory after Redskins victory after Redskins victory. We also should all know that we only have one coach, one starting quarterback, and one team to root for. We can, will, and should express different opinions about what direction this team is headed and how we will fare on any given Sunday. But, let’s not act like Philly fans and lash out at each other, launch into personal attacks on fellow Redskins fans, or otherwise act like children. So, in conclusion, think before you attack anyone’s love of the Redskins, intelligence, or personal life and let’s have our civil disagreements while rooting for the Redskins. Our Redskins are going up against our rivals this Monday night and whether you are at the game, at a bar, or at home, Joe Gibbs, the Redskins, and yes, Mark Brunell need and deserve our support. |
