I'm not sure there is a single head coach in recent NFL history, other than Belichek, that that handled both the offensive and defensive play calling during games. And he doesn't do either anymore apparently.
If Harris hires a defense oriented head coach (think Ron Rivera 20 years ago or Belichek 30 years ago), that coach might want to retain EB if the offense continues to progress. Assuming the hiring duty is not given to a general manager. But the same line of thinking may apply-- why screw with the offense just when they're starting to "get it."
