While true that we are a very litigious society, the mere fact that lawsuits are filed doesn't mean they are successful.

As to where it stops - USUALLLY, it stops where it should. In some cases, it doesn't and we get the "hot coffee" cases. But, in my experience, those are the exception and not the rule (even in the hot coffee case there was some rationality - http://www.citizen.org/congress/civj...es.cfm?ID=785).
