Why haven't we heard how smart these pick-ups were?
Shawn Springs, Cornelius Griffin & Marcus Washington. Washington's FO was once again abused for overpaying for these players. But it seems to me, with the No.1 offense out there and with all three of these guys making a big difference (with Barrow and Daniels likely to also make an impact) - We haven't seen much of the "Wow - they actually seem to have gotten the right players for the job." (remember - we by-passed Kearse so we could sign Griffin + Washington).
I know Springs has gotten some credit as a "reclamation project" and maybe it's just that the offensive woes have overshadowed the great defensive play or maybe it's all being credited to the coach. Bottom line is, I haven't seen any credit given to the FO for identifying second tier players who fit the system and allowing the coach to create a unit that maximizes the abilities of the aquired talent. Sorry, just more venting. |
