Is the NFC back on top?

For the last few years analyst have touted the AFC as by far the stronger conference and with good reason. Over this period it has regularly taken 10 wins to get in the playoffs while a few years ago the Giants made the playoffs at 8-8. This year the opposite seems to be true. So far the NFC is 10-8 against the AFC which only says so much but on top of that theres no Tom Brady led Patriots and the Colts are struggling with Peyton Manning trying to find his stride.

According to the ESPN Power Rankings 3 of the top 5 teams are from the NFC (East), conversly theres a 5-5 split in the top 10. Nevertheless to me it seems that the NFC is the tougher conference this year.

I would like to make this a poll but until then what are your thoughts?
