Re: Breaking News Roy Williams Traded to Dallas
The Cowboys are 4-2, and just added another offensive threat to a very potent offense. Between TO, Williams, Witten, Crayton and Austin, you can now have 5 guys on the field at the same time that will beat you. This is only going to open things up for TO by adding Williams to the lineup. Of course he's ecstatic...teams will not be able to double team TO as effectively because you'll be leaving a legit #1/#2 receiver one on one. While Crayton is a good receiver, he's not Roy Williams. This is only going to create huge mis-matches down the line.
However, if I'm TO, I'm looking at the writing on the wall...here's a guy who's a legit #1 that could possibly overtake him if TO gets way too big for his britches. This is essentially Jerry Jones' insurance policy if TO turns like he did in San Fran and Philly. And while Roy Williams may not be a Larry Fitzgerald or a Santana Moss, he's still good for 61/912/7 year to year (4 year average with Detroit as their #1 with Joey Harrington, Jeff Garcia and Jon Kitna throwing to him). Value wise, their defense may be strugging, but they are still good enough to keep them in games. Essentially they decided that bolstering their offense and gunslinging with teams was a better fit. We'll see how much value it is at the end of the year...
