I can't remember where I saw this, whether it was here, on ESPN or RI, but somewhere it said Shanahan talked to Haynesworth in February and offered to release him by April 1st if he agreed to not take the option bonus. So I feel like it should be kinda obvious that Haynesworth wanted to wait so he could get that bonus money, he was probably advised by the NFLPA that if he was on the roster April 1st and he reported to all the mandatory sessions that money would be his to keep and that's why Haynesworth didn't take up the offer by April 1st.

So my questions are, do you think the Redskins have a good chance at recouping some of that money in light of it being made into a signing bonus on the contract renegotiations, and do you really think this is more about how Al feels about being pushed down the depth chart for not showing up as you previously implied in this thread? And also why would Shanny need to ask Haynesworth not to take the option bonus if they cut him by April 1st, wouldn't that have cancelled the bonus if they just cut him by April 1st? And one more question. Lets say he skips the mandatory minicamp but shows up for training camp and the Redskins have already decided to pursue arbitration on the bonus, does he stand as good of a chance as the NFLPA advised him? I remember somewhere it said the NFLPA pretty much guaranteed that bonus money would be his to keep if he was on the roster April 1st and didn't skip training camp, which it sounds like isn't in his plans.
