My thought on this was...Jackson is most likely to many to be worth a 2nd rounder...alone. I mean,Brandon Marshall cost two 2nd rounders...What was Boldin traded for..a 2nd?

VJ is a definate #1 WR that we need. So even if Merriman is no longer any good,it's not like we over paid for a player of VJ's ability...

We would be basically getting Merriman for nothing...Without a bidding war once he's a free agent and with the possibility that a change of scenery and him hitting previous form...A huge steal in a trade.

2 multiple pro bowl caliber players at the cost of a 2nd round pick.
