Re: Pro-gun article
Quote:
Have you ever fired a gun, or had any safety courses regarding them? Were you or someone close to you involved in a gun tragedy? Or is your stance based primarily on stats and anecdotal stories? Is there ever any moment that you could conceive the need to protect yourself with a gun? For my part, as someone who was in the military, and grew up knowing that there were guns in the house, but also knowing that they were not toys and were dangerous tools, my sense of gun safety, and gun rights, really stems from knowing that they can be, and should be, tools used in self defense. I am not a hunter, though I understand why guns are used, in terms of hunting I tend to believe only enough for what you will eat, I don't get shooting animals for sport. Finally, although I am thankful for the country we live in, I do believe that gun rights serve as a reminder of what one of the reasons our country was forged, and shouldn't be given up to a government that increasingly moves away from protecting the rights enshrined in the 1st 10 amendments. |
