I'd be more worried about who's picking the players, rather than who's coaching them. Clark, Merriweather, Hatcher, Porter and Bowen are all pretty sub par free agent signings. There is no excuse for 50 year old Ryan Clark starting as your free safety.

I just don't understand how/why they haven't been able to address the safety position. I will say that I'm glad we didn't overpay for Jarius Byrd, but there were plenty of safeties in the FA market.
