With draft picks you have to give it more time than just a season to declare it a good pick or bad pick. We do know that Doctson didn't help us in 2016 but that doesn't mean he won't. What if he's AJ Green for the next 3 years before we have to pay him big money? Having a big playmaker at WR on the cheap can be a big advantage. Let's see on him.

Last year we didn't have the same cap space as we do this year. That said, the moves McC did make whiffed big time. I agree, he must be more aggressive in free agency this go round.

If I were Gruden, going into a make or break season for my coaching prospects in 2018, I'd be down his throat about making moves. And frankly, he's right. I still want McC to be prudent, but it would do us no good to have $20M in cap space going unused. Hope he feels free to overpay a bit to avoid repeating last year. Get aggressive, still avoid guaranteed contracts that could hamstring us for 4 years, but gotta go for something. He's got to walk that line this year.
