Urlacher named AP Defensive Player of the Year

this year didn't have it's usual stand out performance by a defensive player so I think they just went with the face of the #1 statisticly defense. I am very suprised to see the guy had only 24 solo tackles. I'm sorry but thats pretty pathetic for a leader of a defense whereas our leaders in Marshall and Washington had 77 and 73 respectively and while I really don't care for the guy Ray Lewis had 112 and 125 in the years he won and the other recent lb to win the award in Derrick Brooks had 92. The stats don't really back it up but like I said I think it's just cuz no one really had that stand out year, they just went safe and gave it to the leader of the statisticly speaking #1 defense.
