That is somewhat disappointing as it indicates they don't have a grand plan for the show. If he was only supposed to be on 3 eps and now is the leader of the Others then they are clearly making it up as they go along. That seems like it could lead to the show not being as interesting.

well, ana lucia was supposed to be on much longer, but the actress turned out to be a royall PitA, so they dragged her out and shot her. homicide did the same thing. the problem with homicide is they kept replacing the people that left (actors and writers) with lesser talent, so the last 2 seasons were completely worthless.
