Re: Do People Really watch The Academy Awards
Crash is a very polarizing movie... either hate it or love it.
Much like Napoleon Dynamite- I'm glad some people thought it was the funniest movie ever, but I'm still waiting to laugh. As for the Oscars... they've always been a joke- political dancing for the sake of Hollywood elitism. But out of the nominees, I'm glad Departed won. Glad Scorsese got his... It's kind of unfair to compare his past work- Departed wasn't going against Raging Bull or Goodfellas... it was up against the likes of "The Queen", "Babel" and "LMS". I'm thinking the academy saw the kind of backlash it created when it gave BP to "Crash" last year and I think they went in a different direction with the choice this year. The biggest travesty was giving Best Cinematography to "Pan's Labyrinth." While PL was a fine film, "Children of Men" did some stuff with the camera that absolutely blew me away. |
