Also, check your motherboard for popped capacitors. We have Dells at work that are notorious for having a bad capacitor problem. It'll cause all sorts of bad news. Just look at the capacitors on the motherboard, then see if they're "popped" up rather then the tops being flat.

Checked the caps along with the rest of the components on the mb. Everything looks good. I used to repair electronics so I think I have a pretty good eye. Sending the board back. Still haven't ruled out the cpu/fan but crossing my fingers that that's not the problem.
