But if He is, then why could what the secret is referring to as "the universe" be God? In fact there is a guy in the video that refers to the universe as God. It really makes a lot of sense.

I don't know enough about "the secret" to really comment. I don't believe that I can just simply meditate on something hard enough to make it manifest itself in my life. God has a purpose and plan for me. My plans may not always be a part of His plans and I think that's a good thing.

I think it's arrogant to say you have complete control over your life. If that's the case, then there is no need for God. The only control you have is how you react to adversity in your life. Attitude is a huge thing. My motto has always been you reap what you sow.

God only uses your hands. You can reject His plans, or go with it.
I think it's irresponsible to think you don't have any control over your life.
You last comment puzzles me though...if you reap what you sow, then you have control over your life. Your actions have consequences.
Anywho, I believe God is everywhere and is always listening to us, so why not tell him what you want? Oddly enough, when I pray in my head, things don't ever, and I mean ever work out. But when I pray outloud I see results. That just may be a coincidence, but I find that the secret taps on that thought.
