Exciting NASCAR season, but is the Chase good for the sport?
I have to say, I have enjoyed this season more than any other season, but is the chase fair, especially in respect to the oldies like Petty? Look at Gordon, he could have snoozed to victory this year with his massive lead, but the chase put him in 2nd place to start, and now he's only 56 points up. He has had to be perfect every week too.
To be honest, I am 50/50 on it. I would like to see the points leader get more points going into the chase though, not just 10 points for each win. Maybe 40 points or more for each spot where they finished: 1- 440 2- 400 3- 360 4- 320 5- 280 6- 240 7- 200 8- 160 9- 120 10- 80 11- 40 12- 0 Granted this year the cream did rise to the top, but that won't always be the case. Or if that's too much (seems like it is to me, but just throwing out ideas...how about this): 1- 200 2- 130 3- 100 4- 80 5- 60 6- 40 7- 30 8- 20 9- 15 10- 10 11- 5 12- 0 Then add 10 points for each win during the season.
