This is a third-year veteran who was actually called upon in the regular season last year. So he's not just training camp fodder. Some might say, 'no big deal, it happens to everybody.' But that's a play Torrence has to win. I suppose I'm willing to give Tryon more of a pass because he's just out of college.

Bottom line is that the guys competing for the nickel corner position so far haven't done much to make a case for themselves.

On the play in question, Torrence had the coverage exactly where you teach it. Hardy has a height advantage on him, but more accurately, Losman's throw was just perfect to the inch. That pass could not have been defended without significant interference.

Tryon looked horrible at times yesterday, but he also did some good things too.
