Re: Current Redskins Salary Cap Status - 2009
Zorn spoke to reporters, documented in this article, and said:
- The Redskins plan to be "active" in free agency but will make efforts not to overpay. - The Redskins plan to retain Jason Taylor. - The Redskins intend to re-sign Pete Kendall and DeAngelo Hall, but not necessarily before they hit the open market on Feb. 27th. From a salary cap perspective this is rather interesting. In order to create the cap room to resign Pete Kendall and DeAngelo Hall AND be active in free agency, the Redskins WILL have to shed more players. If Jason Taylor is not to be among the cuts, I think it makes Marcus Washington's departure a certainty, and increases the chances Springs will be released as well. Then again, Zorn is not in charge of player personnel and could be speaking out of turn. Or flat out throwing up a smokescreen. It will be interesting to see what Vinny does.
