Does anyone know how to download the shows on a DVR device to your computer. Comcast says it can't be done and that the stored shows can't be accessed online. I am wondering if that is just the company line. It would be easier to store them on my comp and burn them to a DVD then to tape the shows I want to save by VHS.

I have seen some things on the internet indicating that it could be done with a firewire (one site had drivers to do so for my model number DVR). I am wondering if anyone has actually done so and how. One problem is that my comp does not have a firewire outlet. I tried doing it via an ethernet Cat 6 cable but was unable to do so. I couldn't find anything indicating that to do so by ethernet was possible but thought I'd give it a shot. I figure if I can find a laptop to borrow from a neighbor, maybe I can download them to the laptop and then copy them to my PC to burn at my leisure.

Any suggestions?
