Question for Canuck / Possible Brunell fix
I seem to recall that after the "retirement" of Deion Sanders, he was on our cap for several years. If I understand correctly, a player can be kept on the cap if the team does not wish to relinquish the rights of the player.
What is to stop us from signing Brunell to a long-term contract (say, the maximum length that bonuses are prorated) with a million dollar bonus, and telling him to "retire". Rather than pay him to occupy a roster spot, we could pay him to do less, but have it count for less as well. Then, when the cap situation is less dire, the team could relinquish his rights at their leisure. Crazy Canuck, do you know if such a situation is possible?
