Paging Warpath Doctors - weird injury
OK, had a strange occurrence last evening and wondering if anyone else has experienced this or can diagnose it. (I know...I tell people to go to real doctors in these threads...my turn.)
I was curling with a curl bar last evening. Did 25 reps, sat the bar back down and my left pointer finger would not move. Did not feel anything happen, felt fine up to the point where I let go of the bar. It was locked in the position that it was when holding the bar. I was later able to straighten it out (with pain). It is still sore at the knuckle joint closest to the hand, and I can straighten the finger itself but can't raise it all the way level with the other fingers. Not broken, I can make a fist without pain and grasp rightly with it. Picked up my son this morning with no pain but I can't raise it all the way up and it hurts when I try. Is is possible to pull or strain a finger muscle? Pinched nerve maybe? Anyone ever have this strange thing happen? I was benching right before that with a lot more weight and nothing went wrong. Treatment? Gonna give it a few days of rest to see if it straightens out, literally. I just switched from upper body to abs and legs...wasn't going to let a dead finger steal my workout completely. Pictures of it:
