Re: F....Cigarettes
I'm not asking for anyones pitty I simply said I feel sorry for them. On a side note I understand the second hand smoke issue. But I feel that if I wanted to open up a bar with the understanding that it's for smokers but other may attend I should not be hindered by the state gov. telling my business can't have smokers ...inside. It's one thing to go to the bar which is set up for everyone and people having to put up with second hand smoke, but a business should be able to cater to smokers and with the knowledge that it caters to smokers not force them to smoke outside.
I hope I see the day that when smoking is finally banned, these groups turn their attention to alcohol. Alcohol kills also folks. A lot faster then smoking does. Between drunk drivers and pickled livers I can honestly see this being the next hurdle. But don't think your going to have the smokers simpathy when more of our rights start being eroded for the "better cause." Whats my answer for the issue? I don't know. when I was younger I suggested business having a designated smoking area. The smokers got it..... they got pushed outside into the weather, rain, snow, heat, or cold. Now looking for the cheaper insurance business are taking on no smoking on the property period. I guess this forces the smoker to decide if he wants to keep his job or not, especially if he does not want to quit smoking. But to tell business that they can't open a business catering to smokers to give them a place to eat, or a bar to hang out, or simply a lounge (these tobacco shops), is obserd. I'll gladly pay the higher insurances and open a bar for smokers..... but the gov. says no because of laws passed saying no smoking indoors period. |
