Most of these guys live by the regimented daily life football gives them. And often we have seen grief stricken players come out and play their best as they can focus on their work, instead of dealing (at that moment) with the painful reality.
sudden tragic death won't be overcome in one day, one week, or even one year. Short of just cancelling it, no amount of delay would change the emotional baggage that the Chiefs will be dealing with for the rest of the year.
That it happens so close to ST21's death anniversary I would think as Redskins fans we could understand a team's need to unite and drive forward under those circumstances.
