Looking at those numbers, and the fact that no team was penalized for dropping below the salary floor in the unfloored year, I imagine the players understand that the "spirit of the salary cap" is to keep the owners from getting into bidding wars over players, and not about level playing fields or parity. DeSmith did a terrible job of handling the CBA negotiations on many levels, but as always, smooth talkers find ways to survive.
