Reminds me of Matt Stafford. Puts up good numbers the past 2 years but since he's playing with a shitty team, nobody really cares.

Romo is only as good as everyone believes he is because 1) he's with Dallas 2) Dallas is "America's team"

If I was a cowboys fan, I'd jump ship. That's crazy money for a qb that's not in the top 10, and probably not top 20. Jerry jones has lost it.

Tony isn't an awful QB but I can name 9 better than him.

but brady only did that after making his mega millions, and in fact by restructuring got more this year just less in salary cap hits. It was funny to listen to radio the day after his signing as the media realized that TB was not being the generous saint that initial reports made him out to be.

When Griffins contract comes up we will be paying him probably 20 to 25 percent of our cap (especially if he has a SB victory on his resume). That's most likely reality.

That's exactly what I'm saying. Brady is getting his money but in a cap friendly deal. That's what I hope RG3 does. I want RG3 to get paid. He deserves it. I just hope they can work out a deal like the pats did that is cap friendly and pays RG3

Gotcha.I think the biggest problem there, is Luck, Griffin, and maybe Wilson - though his deal is probably one year shorter, will all come due at same time, and I think there will be some serious competition about having the highest paid contract. (of course this assumes that Griffin stays healthy and Luck lowers his INT rate)

Seems like a fair deal for both sides. He's earned the contract.

Pretty much, he's not bad he just can't win in December. I'm curious what cowgirls fans are thinking, figured sandtrap would have trolled through by now. I hope Jerruh lives forever he is such a great gm!

Re: Cowboys Sign Romo to $108M Deal: Skins Fans Rejoice!

Well, all I know is that I almost got into a fight this morning at the Circle K here in El Paso (just outside ft bliss). I was buying my coffee, and I saw a news roller that is supposed to be for the lotteries roll the news that the cowboys just paid 108 mil for Tony Romo, and 55 mil was guaranteed. I started laughing my ass off, almost to the point of crying. There were 3 guys behind me that asked me what was wrong, so I told them how happy I was that the cowboys are a bunch of ****ing retards signing Romo for that much. Needless to say, words were exchanged, lol. I only wish I was wearing my RG3 jersey at the time.

LOL

I was'nt being a smartass, IMHO....Romo has had every opportunity to win ,he has had good players around him and still when it matters most he comes up short, he's had running backs ,receivers, TE's and a good D to go along with his regular season stats, he has even had some very good coach's ...Parcells, Wade Phillips I'll stop there but he has not proven to be worth what they just did, not even close.

Dallas is pretty polarizing. They get plenty of undeserved love as well as some well deserved hate (or have you forgotten the oh so puke worthy Romo love a couple of years ago after his punctured lung?)

Sure, Romo is a good QB, and better than what we had. Is he worth the money being paid? No. Is he a choke artist? In my opinion, until he stops collapsing in big games and having "fluke plays" in those games ... Yup.

I, for one, am glad they are saddled with him for the next 2-3 years. Just means they will get Cowboys fans will get their hearts broken year after year after year ...

No I don't think he's worth 55 million but who else would they go get? There is no qbs in the draft worth a top pick and none in FA. Qbs are overpaid it's just how the league is.

This.

The real issue is that they didn't sign him before Flacco set the market. They cold have wrapped this up before or at the end of the season. Flacco's deal would have been a non-issue.

Vinny... is that you?

55 mil guaranteed to someone that will be 33 before the season starts is crazy. Especially when he has had solid teams around him in the past and couldnt come through. Im sick of listening to the whole argument that Dallas has never had a good player except Tony Romo since he has been there. Thats just outright nonsense. The Cowboys in his early years had better talent around Romo than RG3 had this past year. Given the injuries to key players this past year (Garcon, Davis, ect), that makes it even worse.

QB's arent overpaid in this league. They are the most important piece. But unless they have won you SB's or even gotten to some conference championships, you dont give a 33 year old that amount of guaranteed money. The Cowboys are already in salary cap purgatory, now they are in even deeper with a QB that will be in decline. At 33, I doubt he is going to get better.

The Cowboys need a major overhaul, so anytime they keep an aging vet and sign him to an uncuttable for 3 or 4 years contract, they are making matters worse, not better (Better if looking at it from a Redskins standpoint).

Since the whole Tony Romo has never had a good team around him argument is always used. What changes this year then? What exactly are you seeing in Dallas that makes you think Romo will now get over the hump?

Since that argument dictates that they wont win anything, why not move on and try to get your cap in order while drafting some young pieces who will EVENTUALLY win?

If you want to defend the move because you hate Dallas and think its funny, then be my guest (I do). But you seem to be saying that its a "good move" for that franchise... I couldnt disagree more. They are better off losing 12 games instead of 8 for a couple of years and building with higher draft picks.

Plain and simple, Romo's contract is a Vinny move. And Vinny moves have been proven to not work in the first year, and cost the team dearly in dead cap in later years. Im glad its now the Cowboys doing those contracts and not us anymore.
