With that said, is Nassib the BPA value at 8th for Buffalo? Seems to me most of the big talent in the 6 - 12 range is OL/DL. While that's necessary stuff, I think they could reasonably expect to get quality linemen later in the 1st and 2nd. It seems to me, the best thing for them to do (if Nassib is the target) would be to trade down to later in the round if possible. I would not be surprised to see SF jump up to grab T. Austin and then Buffalo take Nassib at 31. Heck, at 8th, with Austin being the first real "playmaker" on the board, there could be a bit of a bidding war at 8th.

I think Nassib is, at best, the 2nd QB off the board and more likely the 3rd or 4th. As long as Buff can stay in the first round, they will likely get him. Particularly if Geno is still on the board at 8.

As for Geno - I see a Jason Campbell 2.0 redux. Not sure why and I would defer to those who watch the college players more, but it is just one of feelings I get when I hear his talents described.
I think geno is a little better than Jason was coming out but I don't think he's worth a top 10 pick

Re: Redskins 2013 Draft News & Rumors

Greatest 3 day stretch of the year. This is basically adult Christmas for me. I haven't been as into as I have in previous years but to me this is practically a holy day. One of the few great innovations by Pope Roger Goodell I, was to not only move the draft up a day early but make it so a late riser like me doesn't have to get up "early" on Saturday and Sunday to watch the draft, opting for prime time instead. Of course Round 4 starts "early" on Saturday at 12 noon but the key rounds are in prime time.

Re: Redskins 2013 Draft News & Rumors

Anyone think there's any possibility of some magic deal that gets us into Round 1?

Me neither. We wait for Friday.

Everything I've heard about this year says that the draft is basically loaded with 2nd and 3rd round prospects while being a little short on 1st round prospects. Many teams are going to want to trade back to capitalize on the depth.

Scouts Inc for example has broken it down like this.

1st Round Grade: 25 Players
2nd Round Grade: 38 Players
3rd Round Grade: 48 Players

111 Players

Compare this to last year

1st Round Grade: 27 Players
2nd Round Grade: 39 Players
3rd Round Grade: 35 Players

101 Players

If ever there was a year to be okay with not having a first round pick this one might be it. Regardless heres hoping that one of the three SEC safeties (Elam - UF, Reid - LSU, or Swearinger - USCar) fall to us in the 2nd. Though I would be just as happy with Shamarko Thomas - Syracuse. JJ Wilcox - Georgia Southern, would be an interesting pick seeing as how I went to school there and theres a lot to like about him but I don't feel like he's a plug and play starter. Rather a raw prospect with lots of potential.

Personally I hope they address Safety before Corner. Much bigger need and a position that I feel is more important then corner.

good post, maybe grabbing as many 3rd and 4th round picks might be a good idea

Hearing Mike talk about character and a strong locker room is music to my ears.

I'm finally beginning to completely eliminate the Cerrato era.

Re: Redskins 2013 Draft News & Rumors

Just an FYI, Kiper and Scouts, Inc (McShay) both did Round 2 mocks. I'm not too pleased with the way it shakes out. Since their both Insider articles, I'll post some highlights:

Neither one has Cyprien or Swearinger falling to us and Kiper even has Shamarko Thomas coming off the board before our pick. The picks?

Kiper: Kevin Minter

Quote:
He can start next to London Fletcher and eventually take over for him.
I guess he forgot we have Perry Riley and Keenan Robinson. I don't see us taking an ILB this high.

Scouts, Inc: Johnthan Banks, CB, Mississippi State

No explanation from Scouts, Inc.

I'm more intrigued by the Banks pick than Minter, obviously, but I feel like I'm going to be sick to my stomach should neither Swearinger or Cyprien (who is almost guaranteed to be gone) fall to us.

Another quick highlight: Scouts, Inc has the Bengals taking Tyrann Mathieu at 53. I found that interesting.

a player who has yet to take the next step in production, and a player who has yet to start for us; Seeing that the Dolphins just took Dion Jordan when they already have Wake, Vernon and Oderick is a great example of why we can't assume teams won't take certain players. Just because a player isn't viewed as a need in our eye, doesn't mean they aren't a need in that teams eye.

Also supposedly we aren't high on Banks, because he's a cover 2 CB and we play man and cover 3.

Sure, they could take him, but I'm pretty sure we took Keenan Robinson to be the heir apparent to London Fletcher, so giving up on him after one year seems silly. Also, I'd say that 129 tackles from Riley is pretty solid, so saying "he has yet to take the next step in production" might be a bit of an exaggeration.

Also, the Dolphins pick was a bit of a head scratcher, much like the rest of their terrible to mediocre offseason. If we make a similar pick to that, not saying Minter is similar, I'm not going to be very happy

I would say Riley has stepped up and made plays for us.

Neither would I, honestly, if things go the way Kiper has them, I'd probably like that pick. I like him at safety, if he can keep his head on straight. I also recognize that is probably a huge if. Hopefully, a year away made him hungry.

I was actually thinking about the Banks pick and thinking that maybe Hall could play FS part time next season should we take a CB in round 2 and not find a guy who can start at safety in round 3.

I'm just gonna put it out there. I love Baccari Rambo. I want him if he's available in round 3

I still think we may go WR. Especially if Cyprien & Swearinger is gone.

Re: Redskins 2013 Draft News & Rumors

I remember when they made this format change a few years ago, I thought this second day would be an intriguing day, as every team can catch it's breath between the 1st and 2nd round. It would not shock me to see a lot of quick snap trades in the works if certain players fall early on. I still don't know what player I am most hoping for, but in the end, I just want our FO to be on top of things and not looking like lost puppies, or kid show hosts.

Re: Redskins 2013 Draft News & Rumors

I know we´re in the mode of ´draft picks are gold´ but I´d see if Cyprien/Swearinger are still sitting at around 42-46 I'd see if someone would take our 2nd and 5th for their 2nd or if Wheaton or the right WR falls if NE would give us their own 2nd round pick (59) for our 3rd and 5th. That way we'd potentially pick up two starters and since we have an extra 5th, we would still have a full draft class.
