1. There's no set date for his return. Aug 31st is the first day he is ELIGIBLE to be reinstated, but there is no guarantee it will happen..

2. Even IF he is reinstated, the team would have to be willing to take him back.

3. Even IF the team takes him back, he would have gone 12 months without any football activity.

4. Even IF he resumes football activity, he would have to re-learn the defense that he had no OTA's or training camp with.

5. Even IF he re-learns the defense, he would then have to beat out players that have been in the program since April and that may not go over well in the locker room.

6. Even IF he wins a spot and the locker room is ok with him, he's one bad decision away from being gone all over again.

I don't see Allen/Shanahan/Haslett taking that chance on what could be a team poised for a deep playoff run.

All very true no doubt. But the cap penalty squeezed us with other options and he certainly isnt my first preference. I think he'd work out fine this year if he keeps in shape and keeps his mind focused on football. I dont see it as a huge risk. And plus what Matty said.

He's not concerned over the inconsistency that Royal was an offensive player and GWilliams, even if there were a bounty program, coached the defense?

The guy claims played some on the defense, which I would assume he means special teams. I don't remember royal ever playing in the actual defense.

First of all...who?

Secondly, he was hurt against the Vikings and played against us before recovered fully it seems. Also, we didn't end his career since he played in another game AFTER the game against us and then had ACL surgery. No case.

Green was playing for the Giants when he first injured the knee Oct. 31, 2004 in a game against the Minnesota Vikings. He missed nearly a month then returned to play in three more games, including Dec. 5 against the Redskins. The lawsuit says Royal "intentionally lowered his helmet and dove into" Green's knees "at full speed." Green had to be helped off the field, and the lawsuit claims the alleged bounty program would have rewarded the hit as "either a 'knockout' or a 'cart off.'"

Even though Royal lined up as a tight end on the play, which happened in the third quarter, the lawsuit says he also played defense occasionally and therefore would have been coached by Williams.

Green played in one more game after the injury and later underwent surgery to repair a torn ACL. Green did play in one game with the Giants in 2005 but was cut at the end of the season. He tried to latch on with the Houston Texans in 2006 but was cut before the start of the regular season. He now lives in Miami.

Look at Royal's defensive stats...0 tackles in 2004. In fact, he didn't record a tackle until 2008 with the Bills and that could have been after a change of possession on a fumble or INT.

There was a play in that game where the Redskins were flagged 15 yards after a Portis run because of an illegal crack back by Royal. I'm guessing that's the play being referred to

So he's claiming Gregg Williams called that play, or slipped Royal a twenty as he went onto the field?

Well I guess the Redskins aren't winning the NFC East then. He also said RG3 is better than Eli Manning, that might be a tad premature in this point in their careers. But I think in four years, this question will be very interesting to answer.

I've noticed Skip has been more positive towards the Redskins in recent years. I remember him praising Brian Orakpo a year or two ago and I remember him hyping up RG3 constantly. When RG3 went to New Orleans week one Skip Bayless gave RG3 an 10 out of 10 in terms of how great he played.




The rest of skips opinions are scattered though.
