What is the advantage of putting him on Active PUP though? Once that happens we can't PUP him later in the season, if necessary. Can't we just keep him active and not have him work out? We'll have to get to 53 eventually and I think blowing the opportunity to PUP him during the season isn't worth having an extra RB in camp for a couple weeks. Perhaps I'm missing the advantage of the Active PUP during training camp.

This is a no brainer... he is better off rehabbing and strengthening his knee in preparation of game 1, not the preseason. He should not play in preseason game 1 and 2.... maybe not even play in game 3. He can still get reps in practice with his teammates (no contact) and prepare just fine for the season. This is a smart move. |
