When he's activated from IR, an accompanying roster move will need to made to free up a spot on the active roster.

Is he going on the 8- or 16-game IR? Big loss if 16 because we need depth on this D-line that keeps getting thinner.

There's not really an 8-game list, but teams can now activate one player a year from the IR list after 8 games. Carriker would be a good candidate if healthy, he makes an impact when healthy.
