I don't agree with this. I'm glad RG3 didn't play in the preseason; the risk of injury wasn't worth it. And it's true that it wouldn't have helped with other players' miscues. But playing RG3 for a half or so in preseason would have helped him "shake the rust off". To be honest, he looked terrible in the first half. He wasn't making the right reads, and he was missing receivers; basically, it looked like he was playing "stiff". He just didn't look comfortable. And that's because this was his first game action since the playoffs.

Playing in the preseason wouldn't have prevented the team's bad play, but it certainly would have helped RG3's game in the first half. And if RG3 would have played well, it would have partially negated the bad play of the other players; instead of a 19 point deficit at half-time, it would have been more like a 10 point deficit. The quarterback is the most important player on the field, and if he would have played well the whole game, it would have gone a lot better for everyone.

This Eagles' game was his preseason, and he will come out firing on all cylinders against Green Bay. Philly will be but a distant memory when we come out victorious.

I still don't think risk was worth it for a guy coming off a major knee surgery. The fact he was back in the starting lineup week 1 was a pretty major accomplishment on it's own. If we want him around for the next decade, it's more important to keep the big picture in mind.

I don't think it would have been worth it either. Obviously, keeping RG3 healthy is far more important than winning an opening game. But what Skip Bayless said is true: if RG3 played in the preseason, we would have won that game.

Seriously though there were to many mistakes in the first half, and they didn't get the offense fired up until the 4th quarter.

IF III played in preseason and was injured we would have tarred and feathered Shanny. Its week one, 15 to go and the NFC East is up for grabs. I still believe it is our division.

I'm sure people have mentioned it, but it's unfair to put that false start squarely on TW. The clock management wasn't the greatest on the drive. We burned a TO and the clock ran down to 01 a few times.

Is that because rg3 is "rusty" (btw getting to be the favorite term of the week, along with "fast paced") or the plays not getting in on time? Maybe a little bit of everything.

Griffin's comments after the game were spot on: "On offense we had a case of the 'can't get rights'. I don't throw picks, Alf doesn't fumble and Kai doesn't miss kicks. All three of those things happened."

On a side not, I am sorry to announce that JoeReverend is no longer with us. He was unfortunately stoned to death as most false prophets are.

I got you all set up for next week!

Brothers and Sisters! Today is the day in which our team rides forth and breaks through the bonds that have held it back ... the bright lights of Lambeau Field will burn away our disappointment of years past, shine brilliantly upon the team's accomplishments, and light the way through the season!

Yay, though we have walked through the valley of disappointment lo these many years, now is the time of our team's rebirth! Let your joy ring forth! Shout out your faith in RGIII, Trent, Morris, Fletcher, Orakpo, Shanahan & the rest of these warriors of the grid iron ... no more shall we reside at the bottom of power polls, no more shall others mock or success as fleeting, no more must we rend our garments with the expectation of loss!

Though long suffering, we shall be rewarded by our faith! Henceforth we shall expect to win, our team will find new and innovative ways to maintain our faith and succor our thirst for success. Our voices will be free to shout our team's successes and to expect more!

Be thankful and rejoice ... today is a new day and the dawn of a new era. Our fanaticism will be reborn, our faith restored. Drink in the joy, relish the ecstasy, let the waves of victory roll over and through you as you proclaim the power of our team!

Hallelujah my brothers and sisters! A new day is upon us. A new future awaits. Rejoice!!

It was a balancing out against the chicken little's we have here (myself included at times) JoeRev was the yin to the yang in these here parts.

Re: Skins v Eagles post game thread

My chest tightened up after Robert took that hit and reached for his knee. Was very gimpy getting up, but he eventually played "through it" and the Skins rallied. Still not convinced that he's 100%, but he's pretty darn close and as Skinsguy said, he'll look sharper and perhaps move around better vs. Green Bay.

It's one game. It's a long, long season. Still think this team is on the right track. The Eagles jumped on us early because of turnovers, yet somehow we managed to make a game of it.

Re: Skins v Eagles post game thread

I put OTHER because it was all the above and then some. Not that they have to go back to the drawing board or anything. If they can clean up some things during the week, have a better defensive game plan in place for a "more familiar" GB offense, I would expect to come home with a hard fought W next week.

It was encouraging to see the Defense make the necessary adjustments to slow down that Philly offense, and it was encouraging to see the offense clean up their act as the game progressed. Unfortunately the early mistakes and miscues put us in too deep a hole to overcome.

Still a chance to go 3-1 for the first quarter of the season...

One positive note that I haven't seen discussed much is I thought Amerson played a quality game. Looks like he will be a good corner in the NFL.

When you're not getting your name called and you're a secondary player, that's typically a really good thing. I think he'll be a solid #1 for us next year.

Re: Skins v Eagles post game thread

every time I look at this thread and see the level of discussion about the D, I'm amazed. Out of 10 drives that Philly started in their field, they had:
1 TD
1 FG
2 Turnovers (both resulting in TD's for the Skins 1 def. 1 off.)
5 punts
1 kneel down.

out of 4 starting on the Skins side, they had 3 TD's and 1 punt.

Short fields are offenses friends.

For the record, the Skins started 1 drive on the Eagles side and had 1 TD.
We had 2 drives that started outside our 30, we TD's on both.

If Kai makes that FG, we are playing to kick a game winner(wouldn't go for 2 the one time) instead of going for it on 4th and 15.
