Did anyone notice Clay Matthews on Sunday?

I didn't because Trent Williams took him out of the game. He is one of the best left tackles in the NFL.

And your boy Joe Staley allowed more pressures and a sack against Clay. That ends that debate Trent Williams >Staley.


Anyway as far as this Lions game:

How do you stop Calvin Johnson? No I'm serious how do you stop Calvin Johnson because I don't have any clue with our secondary. Maybe we could do the old gunner formation on him throughout the game, but I doubt it works, he would just run a slant into the middle of the field and still catch the ball, break tackles and outrun us.

Lets say for some reason CJ doesn't get the ball or we defend him ok enough. Theres still Burlison who will give Josh Wilson and DHall problems.

Say you somehow stop Calvin and Burlison. Who stops Pettigrew? London can't cover a TE for his life. Celek and Finley had huge games against us, why shouldn't Pettigrew?

Then lets say for some reason, we are able to stop those 3. Who the hell stops Reggie Bush? London, again, can't run with/to/from/near a RB either. He is a similar version to LeSean McCoy.

The only way we beat Detroit's Offense:

- press them
- Double team Calvin all the time
- have our DL collapse the center forcing Bush to run outside
- hope bush's knee hurts him again forcing him to leave the game
- hope Calvin gets injured enough to miss this game
- put a SS on Pettigrew
- get pressure from all over on stafford causing him to force or over throw passes.

But now the only other problem is Detroits Defense is pretty good. Stephen Tullouch can play. Fairley and Suh are two great DTs. The safeties are upgrades over last year. Where are our weaknesses? OL is definitely one of them. I would also keep an eye on Suh, before, after and during the whistle. He is the kind of guy that would go low on a QB coming off knee surgery.

If I were the Shanahan's, I'm calling a lot of power runs off tackle, and a lot of bootlegs.

Garcon should have a big day; ditto for Jordan Reed.

Yea, because we are going to judge players based on one games instead of entire seasons. So now Ryan Kerrigan is better than Aldon Smith because Kerrigan had more sacks against the Packers.

Let us wait untill the season ends to determine who the better tackle is.

I'll give you this, Trent Williams is a better pass blocker than Staley.

I didn't hear Clays name once Sunday. I heard it throughout the day when they played San Fran. It counts for something. Also Kerrigan makes more plays than Aldon. Remember Aldon smith with Justin Smith= 19.5 sacks. Without Justin smith = 0 sacks.

Trent absolutely schooled Matthews when they were matched up, and has been one of the few bright spots on offense this year. The dude who called Williams overrated is clueless about football. People who analyze and appreciate the battles in the trenches know better.

You must be relying on the one play in the 2nd qtr that Aikman praised TW for "that play".

If you watched the game on DVR and see TW driven back into RG3s face on consecutive plays late in the first quarter, or watched him not recognize CM coming off the edge on the WR screen and attempt to cut him rather than ignore him, or the multiple plays where he's driven backwards on runs or barely gets a stalemate with no drive.....despite outweighing OLBs by 40 lbs. and you want to call those "bright spots" then OK.

But I've never analyzed any football and am certainly clueless and you know much better.

On a lot of screens, wide receiver screens included, O-line will not pick them up because they are coached to not pick them up. Clay lined up wide and went straight up field. TW wouldnt have gotten him cut in time anyways based on the angle that CM took. Its a WR screen, they are coached to hit the second level as quick as possible. You are also talking about Clay Mathews. A guy that goes around a lot of LT's anyways, run or pass. Its not as easy as you make it out to be. You have to catch him before you can block him. But according to you, the average person sitting at home watching on Sunday can do that.

On that play the OL was trying to influence on the Stretch Right. TW went straight to 2nd level. CM was out wide and came in at an angle thru the passing lane. TW had to see him out there and knowing the play, with no other threat in his area, the smart thing to do would've been to at least attempt a cut. I never said it was easy....but I'm not getting paid $ 8M or so per year to play LT, getting Pro Bowl accolades from 2012, and getting blindly defended by many fans who "understand what's going on in the trenches" (not a reference to anything you said).

Another bad match up for us. Big physical Dline that our oline will not be able to deal with. On offense they obviously pass the ball well so that means another long day for our defense. Lions 34 Skins 24.

Not another "... and fights their guts out!" That is almost a cliché anymore and a joke to boot. They are saying in the Detroit News that Bush might not be available for Sunday, but don't totally rule him out either at this point. We need to practice like he will be playing. Only way we have a chance of winning is Haslett mixing up some nice blitz packages and we actually get some turnovers come our way. This needs to be the last time we draft any defensive backs outside of the first round. We have no business putting in mid round rooks as starters.
