I heard rumors that other NFL folks and even people inside the organization were lobbying for Shanahan to start Cousins, with the idea that RG3 would be 100% by the time we come back from the bye. I also heard at that time, the question was asked what would be done if Cousins was hot or the skins were on a winning streak? So obviously Shanahan wanted to squash any controversy by sticking with RG3 no matter what. Kind of reminds me how much JC stunk, but he was never benched no matter how poorly he played, even when we had other quarterbacks on the roster (at the time) who could play. I think the mentality is that Shanahan gave up all of those picks and basically mortgaged the team's future on a "maybe", that for year one, appeared to be a "definitely". So RG3 will never be benched unless it is god forbid due to an injury, and Shanahan is likely using his remaining time with the skins to audition for another team, if he decides to stay in the NFL. I kind of see him riding off into the sunset if he gets canned here. He is sort of an older guy.

Re: Lions vs Skins Game Day Thread
My post might be coming across the wrong way. I'm just trying to say that even if Cousins might be the better option for right now, there is no way in the world that Shanahan would ever do it.
Too much is invested in RG3, I think it's obvious. I'm just trusting the opinion of NFL guys and former players and coaches like Tony Dungy. None of them are saying RG3 is done. But they are saying that at this moment in time, he is not healthy, and he is not playing well, and it is causing damage to the team to have him in there like that. Year 3 might be different. But it also might be like when other mobile QB's have had their wheels fall off. It isn't a pretty sight to watch a mobile QB lose his legs little by little. I think of McNabb, Culpepper, Brunell, and others who have went through this. Someone brought up a great point, that if we get to 0-7, it might be time to play Cousins only to see what he can do, because by that point, the Shanahans might be gone and a new coach may feel that Kirk Cousins might fit into the offense, sort of like Chip Kelly did with Vick and Foles......

Re: Lions vs Skins Game Day Thread
That 7 game win streak last year saved his job. I seriously doubt that's going to happen twice.

I thought Haslett actually called a decent game. He mixed in a lot more blitzes. He can't force these bums to tackle.

Re: Lions vs Skins Game Day Thread
I think the sad part is that we've actually improved from the last two games.
