Re: Around the NFL Week 5

In all fairness guys Manning threw a INT late in the game as well, and it was a bad throw. It happens, Romo is just always dogged more than other, y are Jay Cutler and Eli Manning not getting flack for their games as of late? For some reason people just hate Romo

Re: Around the NFL Week 5

Making the right play when it matters most is more important than the rest of the entire rest of the game combined. It becomes a binary situation...execute or lose. None of the stats and great play matter if you cannot execute properly at the most critical time. It has become irrefutable, based on empirical evidence, that Romo cannot get the job done in high-pressure end of game scenarios. I'm not into generalizations but after a while if just becomes fact. Dallas is going to have a near impossible road to hoe trying to win a SB with Romo as QB.

Re: Around the NFL Week 5

Vick missing games. Romo throwing an INT when the game is on the line. These are staples of the Eagles and Dallas teams the last few years. I know we haven't put it all together this season, but yesterday's performance from the rest of the NFC East makes me believe the Skins still have the best shot at the the title. Why, because we have seen this same cast of Skins beat the rest of the division. Yes, the Skins have to get their ship in order, but the rest of the division is the same as it has been. And the Skins last year showed the ability to beat them.

don't count out nick foles just yet ... plenty of serviceable weapons on that team... if they run the ball more and use more screens (as I assume they will) to slow down pressure on foles... they could still put up enough points to win games against some teams, especially tampa IMO .. the kid was good at Arizona, and is still learning the speed of the game.. his arm strength is scary and those recievers can get open, so I wouldn't count 'em out just yet.

Once teams know it's Foles starting, the focus becomes McCoy. Foles won't beat teams and McCoy will get an extra defender just because.

Re: Around the NFL Week 5

Escobar was NOT open. LB was in trail technique with a safety over the top and closing. The lb did have to make a good play to intercept it but he was covered. He WAS open for a split second when he made his break but that meant the ball had to hit him on his break...not 4 steps in. In the nfl if you throw to an open guy he won't be open by the time the ball gets there on that type of route. It was a mistake to throw it not because the RB was open underneathe but because it had little chance to succeed. It was a marginally better play than blindly chucking it like he did against us last year. Point is he shouldn't be making mistakes like that consistently like he does at this point in his career.

Re: Around the NFL Week 5

The Denver defender did make a nice play on the ball. But there were 3 guys in that area. He should have never thrown that ball there. However, all the good that Romo did outweighed the bad.... by far. Romo just does the bad when the game is on the line.

I agree. Without Romo the score is 48-14 at that point and Romo couldn't choke because the game would not have been on the line.

Through his fine play Romo set himself up to choke yet again.
