No mass shootings in Australia but check out the spike in violent crimes, like rape and assault. Banning guns allows the strong to prey on the weak. Their ban and the UK's bear that out.

Re: Another school Shooting Nevada
gun control != 100% total gun ban. if you really think ar-15s are the best way to prevent rape, well...

Re: Another school Shooting Nevada
Adding or removing guns will not solve the problem that is causing the mass shootings. Until we address the multiple problems we have as a nation, such as glorifying the killers by always talking about them on the news, we will always have problems with mass shootings. The fact that people want to kill children for whatever reason is the true issue. Obviously our current approach is not working.
To me saying you should take away the guns to stop the killings is like saying you should take away birth control to stop pregnancies. Guns promote violence just as much as birth control promotes sex. But acting like those two things are the reason people will do those acts, is in my opinion foolish. |

Part of the deterrent to arming teachers is the same as CCW with civilians, criminals no longer know who the soft target is. Currently they are all too aware. Like in the Ft. Hood and similar situations where the shooter knew they would have no opposition.

Re: Another school Shooting Nevada
Ok answer this. So if you were at school while one of these shooting was going on would you want to be huddled down with the teacher with or without the gun?

Re: Another school Shooting Nevada
I won't start a new thread . I fear for my grandchildren because of the gun lobbyist and the NRA and others .
Calif. sheriff's deputies shoot, kill 13-year-old | US National Headlines | Comcast Calif. sheriff's deputies shoot, kill 13-year-old SANTA ROSA, Calif. (AP) — Northern California sheriff's deputies have shot and killed a 13-year-old boy after repeatedly telling him to drop what turned out to be a replica assault rifle, sheriff's officials and family members said. Two Sonoma County deputies on patrol saw the boy walking with what appeared to be a high-powered weapon Tuesday afternoon in Santa Rosa, sheriff's Lt. Dennis O'Leary said. The replica gun resembled an AK-47 with a black magazine cartridge and brown butt, according to a photograph released by the sheriff's office. Deputies would only learn after the shooting that it was a replica, according to O'Leary. It was not clear whether it could fire projectiles such as pellets or BBs.

Re: Another school Shooting Nevada
Classic hippie dream scenario. You may as well say "Dark colors fuel depression, so we'll get rid of anything below a certain hue".
Hippies are incapable of thinking outside their puppy, bunny and kitten laden world. |

What I have a problem with is people that act like adding guns solves the problem. The problem is the shooter. Adding a gun does not change anything. |
