Do You Unequivocally Believe RG3 Is Our Franchise QB?

Just watched NFL Live on DVR with discussion of skins troubles. They played RG's press conference and first and foremost there's nothing about RG that says he's arrogent to the point of clouding his perspective. He's sharp and wants to win. He also recognizes the situation he's in IMO.

That situation, and the way it's being handled by the sports media, is becoming disgraceful. When you look at the myriad mistakes Shanny made with this team, from his disastrous handling of the defense, disastrous handling of the coaching staff namely his goofy kid and washed up d coordinator, and last but not least knee-gate from last season, I find it insulting to human intelligence and basic decency how the talking heads discuss the piss poor shape of the team and RG as having anything to do with each other.

Short of a tragic injury, RG should be in pro football long beyond anyone named Shanahan. I just can't understand how anyone can look at the last 4 seasons objectively and then try to justify either father or son working in pro football beyond this season. RG said what everybody should know, defenses know the Shanahan's playbook and tendencies better than the coaches themselves. This legacy shit, keeping Mike and Kyle employed, has to stop.

About equal to people thinking he's a better option than Griffin, using the same limited action as evidence.

The dude has played one complete game against a garbage football team and people assume he's somehow better than Griffin. It's mind-numbingly ridiculous. Especially considering all of the other 'eye test' evidence points to so-so arm strength, and the potential to be a turnover machine.

RG3 spent the offseason rehabbing his knee instead of practicing football. For a long tenured vet like Peyton Manning missing an offseason doesnt matter so much but for a 2nd year QB it matters a lot. In a lot of ways 2013 was finished when RG3 went down in last year's playoff game and unfortunately his quick comeback gave a lot of fans false hope. Like I said in a prior post I'd be much more worried if I was a SF fan since Kapernick had a full offseason and has been terrible.

Its amazing that anyone would even think RG3 isnt the Skins franchise QB. IMO all the years of losing have made Skins fans doubt the Skins drafting ability and believe that the grass is greener with a QB another team found. Stick with RG3, he will be fine. My real concern with RG3 is his durability.

^ actually all the years of losing have nothing to do with the draft or qb's. It is clearly due to the fact that Joe Gibbs sold the Redskins soul to the devil (he is too much of a God fearing man to sell his own), and the curse of the Oneida tribe.

The move that Shanahan and Snyder needs to make is hire a good QB coach. Greg Knapp comes to mind. Matt Lafleur is Kyle's boy, but we need someone that can develop Robert and help him on his mechanics.

I wouldn't fault the coaches for his mechanics. The offseason is the time for working on that stuff and with his rehab they simply couldn't do it. Sucks but that's reality.

It's great that he's coming to RG3's aid, but this is probably the wrong kind of attitude to have..

It almost seems like a throwback to when big name players like Portis and other folks would be in Dan's pocket and complain about the scheme, the coaches, etc...

I see RG3 doing it in maybe not a malevolent way...but i still don't think it's good...

Rehab may take a significant part of his offseason time but that should not limit him from studying film, the playbook, opposing defenses or concentrating on mechanics. I relate it to Tiger fixing his golf swing while coming back from injury. You have to practice mechanic in once cleared to throw. Not revert, and blame it on the knee.

He watched plenty of film and got the mental reps, I don't think that was the issue. But when you can't practice what you're watching it doesn't do a ton of good.

I'm pretty sure the majority of his time was spent on rehab, just learning how to walk and run again and he wasn't going full speed and cutting hard until he got close to camp. Again, hard to work on mechanics under those circumstances. Nothing really simulates going full speed in a practice with no limitations.
