If we managed to have this type of draft, I would s*** myself every time I thought of it until the season started.

RT is the biggest need along the O-line, but after the RTs rated as 2nd rounders(Moses, Kouandijo, Fleming, James, etc.), there's a big drop-off in talent, IMO. If Verrett is available at #34, he'll almost certainly be the best player available, so I'd take him there. In the 3rd, barring a fall of one of the previously mentioned RTs, Skov would also likely be better than any RT left, as well as the best player available. Ditto for Reynolds in the 4th. If we drafted 3 immediate starters in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, I wouldn't care at all if one of those wasn't an OL.

I'll be happy if we take an OL high, but I don't want to reach. I'm hoping that Leribeus at RG and either Compton or Polumbus at RT take a big enough step forward to claim the starting jobs without question. A lineup of Williams at LT, Lavuao at LG, Lichtensteiger at C, Leribeus at RG, and Compton at RT would make me quite optimistic. Like I said though, I'd be happy with an OL high.
So you are projecting four immediate starters and helpful contributions by other rookies from one draft which lacks a first-round pick?

Hey, I'm a Skins fan. We're delusional.

On a serious note, I would expect only Verrett and O'Donnell to start. Verrett is an elite talent, so it would be idiotic to not start him in the slot over Porter. And O'Donnell, being a punter, would also likely start.

I wouldn't expect Shayne Skov to start, but I would expect him to be in the mix at ILB. Same for Reynolds at FS; Clark is really the only FS we have and he's 34(35 now?). Surely Ed Reynolds, being the great tackler that he is, could contribute early. Colt Lyerla does have off-field issues, but he's a great receiving TE. If he stayed out of trouble, I'm 100% sure Gruden would find a way to get him and Reed on the field at the same time, even early in the season. De'Anthony Thomas would surely find the field some way as well.

start Verrett in the slot ? Are the Redskins going to start 12 players on defense ?............ it might help

Verrett is not going to beat out D Hall and Amerson. He could be very good in time, but there are several vets ahead of him now. Skov a starter ? Reynolds would probably play a lot, and could start by mid-season.

Lyerla has a drug problem... no thanks

Counting on 2 inexperienced players on the O line, is very risky.

Re: 2014 draft prospects Early edition

My dream draft scenario would be to deal Kirk for a 2nd rounder, trading out off the 34th spot to pick up an additional 3rd & 4th, and end with (2) 2nd, (2) 3rd, (2) 4th, (1) 5th, (1) 6th & (1) 7th...we could add more depth to the roster. I believe the fact we have the 34th pick a lot of 1st round talent will drop into the 2nd based on the possibility teams will make trades to get the QB's & WR's.

I guess Teddy doesn't like what he's been hearing lately.

Can't believe Bridgewater is falling simply because of a bad pro day where he didn't wear gloves. He's been one of the best players in college ball the last two years.

Personally I like Johnny football better than Bridgfalter aka Akili Smith Jr.

Would you rather have Jace Amaro in the 2nd or Austin Seferain-Jenkins in the 3rd?

Amaro because he is more of a threat down the seam. I say go big or go home on that one.

Smith was a huge risk because he only really played a handful of games in division 1. Bridgwater has proven himself.
I like Manziel better too though.

As a Skins fan I would be dumbfounded if we took a TE in the second or third. If this is just a general question I guess Amaro.

I wouldn't, there are 6 or so good TEs in the draft, and the Redskins need 1 or 2 more.

I don't get the TE rumors. From what I've seen the articles citing it aren't so much rumors as speculation along the lines of "well Gruden had two good TE's in Cincy so he'll probably want two good TE's in Washington."

There are many who think that Redskins tight end Jordan Reed has Pro Bowl potential after a promising rookie year. Could Gruden push to add another tight end into the mix via the draft in hopes of duplicating the two-TE production he got in Cincinnati?

He could, be it won’t be easy. The Redskins don’t have a first-round pick so they will not have a shot at Eric Ebron out of North Carolina, the consensus top tight end in the draft. He should go in the top half of the first round, if not the top 10.
See nothing even remotely resembling a rumor. Talk about a misleading title.
