It would be the single most Shanahan thing he's done here. It would be the grand finale of a four year fireworks show that was not worth attending.

Trent Williams and Robert Griffin are a nice foundation for the future because it's expensive to find players at those positions, let alone good, young players. Certainly beats Jason Campbell and Stephon Heyer.

The difference of course is that in 2010 we had a mostly complete defensive unit and the ability to invest on offense immediately in order to win. The defensive end of the ball is now going to be a complete rebuild.

Jason Campbell is playing some pretty damn good ball and seems to have several good years left in the NFL.

You and I have very different recollections of the 2009 defense inherited by Shanny.

Too late. RG3 should have been benched in weeks 1-4 but instead he did his all in for week 1 thing and Shanny let it happen when he should have been putting the brakes on it. I'm fine with RG3 playing now so he can get more reps in live game action since there's nothing to lose by playing him.

Daniel Snyder won’t intervene in Redskins’ quarterback decision

Well this is big news

Not to me. Formally forbid it for any reason other than a true injury. Write a MF'n letter and tell him not to do it or he'll risk being fired for cause. Then release a statement calling into question Shanahan's motives and integrity. Start fighting back.

Certain owners could get away with that and not be considered a pariah among the coaching community. For most, including Dan, it just makes them look bad.

Remember Al Davis and his news conference where he justified firing Lane Kiffin. Al was ridiculed. Turned out he was right and Lane was a weasel of boss proportions but, at the time, Al was torched by fans and commentators.

Nope. Dan needs to sit down and let Shanahan expose himself as the egoist he is.

Yeah but in that case Shanny wins and walks away with his $7M and Snyder looking like the meddling a-hole.

It won't happen but it would be great drama if he just canned Kyle now.

Re: How would you feel if Shanahan benches RGIII?

there are pros and cons to benching or playing rg3 at this point. either choice i hope the best possible outcome happens.

whether his stated intentions are true or false is anyone's guess.
