Re: Kirk Cousins Expected To Start Sunday

We have Atlanta which was a playoff team last yr and not really terrible this year, Dallas, and the Giants left to play.

Again what if: Cousins plays well, looks good in a traditional West Coast Offense, and the team wins all 3 games? would that be good enough reason to keep MS one more yr, start Cousins next yr, and only bring someone new in at DC? Then between the draft and the $36 mill upgrade the OL, WR, and defense side of the ball?

After this 3-ring circus, he not only started, but is ringleading as well? Hell no.

We fans really don't know the whole situation. The media and fan base has made this a 3 ring circus. and what if MS wanted to do this a lot earlier and DS or Allen said no you will play RG3. with nothing to lose why wouldn't you bench the star, and start the back up you wanted all along anyway? If he shines you can say "see I told you so", but if he bombs... oh well you probably were going to get fired anyway.

Um, no cause I bailed at half-time like some other fan here suggested everyone do. lol. So I was surprised to hear the next day that Cousins was put in.

However, it's a difficult situation to put a QB in throwing him in and expecting results when he has not game planned through the week. I know everyone is supposed to be ready at all times but the back up QB get very little reps.

Also maybe now the OL might look a little better, maybe, if they know where the QB is going to be and all they have to do is set up a pocket or push defenders beyond the pocket. RG3 kept leaving the pocket sometimes running right into the pressure.

Let me fill you in. Polumbus let his man bull rush. Cousins fumbled and Ploumbus recoverd it. Cousins was trying to release the ball quicker but he was staring down receivers and almost threw several picks.

This. Cousins also held onto the ball for a long time on that fumble. Dude has the mechanics, (can throw a sharp accurate pass) but not the skill yet (tends to stare down receivers, not read zones well etc)

Look I saw the play later on the news. No need to fill me in. I've said last year we need a bonified RT. How many times did RG3 fumble the ball in the pocket because Polumbus got beat? or Trent? or the whole center of the OL?

I get the OL is bad. But as Firstdown said it doesn't excuse the holding the ball too long, not stepping up into throws, throwing the ball up for grabs, over throwing your WR's, terrible foot work, etc. etc.

Or you could watch RGIII. Hold the ball too long sack fumble. Run with the ball tackle fumble. Throw the ball up for grabs int. etc............................................... ...........................................

RG3 definitely has ball security issues, but I've been saying for awhile now, I think part of the reason why he runs so much is because he doesn't trust his receivers to either get open or catch the ball. There's been times he's run even when his receivers were getting open. I'm not sure what it would take to fix that.

All reports points towards Snyder being almost 100% hands off, at least this season. I don't even think he has an office at Redskins Park anymore. I feel like Allen is less involved with the Skins than people think. I think he has input but Shanny has the final word.

At this point, that probably depends more on the trust and confidence that Snyder and Shanahan have in one another than anything else. Remember, these last few games are meaningless for the Skins.

Far from it.

I think if MS can prove his system is better, Cousins is the better QB in that system, and these last few games although do nothing for team standings is still playing against a last yr play off team (Falcons), and two divisional teams one being our rival that DS hates to lose against (Dallas) and the a team who's owner crapped down DS's throat with a penalty (Giants).

Our defense if abysmal I know and those teams will probably score a ton of points which means Cousins will have to be on point and scoring also and moving the ball. But if we can squeak out 3 decent wins..... I could see MS staying, the dumping of the read option, MS taking over the play calling, a new DC brought in, and god knows something has to be done with the special teams. Yes this team would be a cluster to the media in regards to the "franchise QB" not starting.

Look RG3 is the fan favorite I get that. RG3 must have been DS's boy he wanted I get that. but what if MS can prove that RG3 has trouble reading defenses? Cousins shows better as a pocket passer and reading defenses? Do we still just trade away Cousins, keep the fan favorite RG3, and move on?

There is next to no chance of this move being successful, but if it is, it would be an even bigger indictment of Shannahan since he gave up the farm to get Griffin. The only thing that it would prove is that he should have no control over personnel, which he has already proven at this point.
