Re: 34th Overall Pick

The most important positon on our defense is NT. We run a different defense than Seattle.

... So that's why the Redskins defense couldn't stop anyone because our NT sucked. We should cut Cofield right now. That good for nothing...

I don't think Cofield sucks but I think the trenches need to be steadily improved.

Re: 34th Overall Pick

I believe that the most important thing that the Redskins must do to win is to protect RGIII. We all know that RT has been an on-going problem. Unfotunately, the Skins were unable to come to a deal with a free agent RT they wanted, although they were able to sign some decent stop-gap players at several other positions of need.

To me, that all adds up to the Redskins finding a way in this draft to get that RT they need so much. If that means trading up (yes, I said trading up), then I'm for it. I'm fine with having fewer picks if it means fixing the RT problem which I consider to be the Redskins' greatest need at this time.

We could use one of those fancy tackling machines AKA ILB.

I'm fine with BPA within our needs. And mostly I'm just tired of all the mocks and talk. Time to get this thing rolling for real!

Re: 34th Overall Pick

I think it's more than the NT but the d-line/front 7 in general. Hatcher will help that and we need Chris Baker or whomever to help out as well. The 49ers NT isnt elite but their front 7 as a whole is

I wouldn't mind adding a pass rushing D-linemen. I also wouldn't mind us trading up to get Ha Ha Clinton Dix either.

His parents should have been threatened with jail time when they tried to name him Ha Ha, the poor soul.

Re: 34th Overall Pick

I'm a BYU grad. Although I'd still like to see us go RT if the top two guys are on the board, Van Noy would be a great pick and he'd do well transitioning to ILB in the NFL.

I don't think he's quite big enough for the 3-4 OLB position, but he's got the smarts, coverage skills, and speed to be a good ILB and he would add a GREAT pass rush option when we blitzed or dropped our OLBs into coverage to confuse the offense. He's also an outstanding character guy and would be a strong locker room presence.

Only question mark is how long the transition to IL would take to master (we did alright changing positions for our current OLBs), but we've got enough options at ILB this year that we could afford to bring Van Noy along as slowly as needed, let him play STs (he's very good there, too), and have him ready in a year or two to be the long-term, full-time ILB starter.

Re: 34th Overall Pick

Is it just me or does he have more of a build of a safety and not ILB? Love the hustle and block shedding ability though.

Last year I wondered if he might try to go the safety route in the NFL, but he ended up putting on some muscle this off-season and I think he'll do fine as an ILB.

As you pointed out, his DE/OLB experience gave him great hands for shedding blocks, so that will help when he's matched up with bigger guys.
